Our Heroes discussed options as the city of Ythrn lifted from the glacier and slowly crossed the Reghed Glacier and tundra beyond.
The Professor suggested that the Tarrasque is the only being in the multiverse with the ability to destroy a god should it come to it. The Tarrasque is capable of digesting a god’s divine spark, preventing reincarnation or resurection. This terrifying prospect also applies to mortal victims of the Tarrasque’s violence, and our heroes opted not to summon the beast. The Professor hoped to witness the Tarrasque in action but understood the decision.
The scroll of Meteor was another tantalyzing option, and our heroes discussed possible colateral damage or cataclysmic outcomes possible from its use. They decided to keep that one in their back pocket, and only use it in a situation where the Ten Towns could not be threatened.
Our Heroes then with Dzaan and Vellyne used the Mythalar to negate Auril’s long night. The darkness appeared to melt, revealing a mid-day sky and the immediate warmth of sunlight.
Auril noticed, and from a small remaining area of darkness beyond the westeren shore of Icewind Dale she flew on the back of her Roc to confront our Heroes.
She assumed three forms worshipped by her followers: A Bipedal owl known as ‘The Cold Crone’, A tall woman made of ice known as ‘The Brittle Maiden’, and finally a floating crystal worshipped by her most ardent followers as ‘The Winter’s Womb’ or ‘Queen of Frozen Tears’.
Our heroes emerged victorious, and the Divine Spark grew dull as the Crystal dropped from the air harmlessly to the ground.
