Our heroes collected themselves following their encounter with Iriolarthas and decided to visit the Mythalar. Veneranda blocked their way out demanding to be brought to the Obelisk to turn back time and ‘restore’ Ythrn. Our heroes refused and were immediately attacked. Their decision to refuse was based on information found in Iriolarthas’ study. After the city’s crash and before he lost his mind Iriolarthas had documented the damage done to the Obelisk – and that using the obelisk could have catastrophic results.
Largo kicked things off by forcing Veneranda into a dance. Veneranda joined the ballroom festivities and the jar containing her brain was destroyed. Her ‘body’ – a suit of magically animated armour – stood down and allowed them to pass through the elevator and back into the city proper.
At the Mythalar, Avarice waited with a contingent of cultists and what The Professor called a ‘Tomb Tapper’. These beings were constructed by the Netherese to fight their ancient enemies the Phaerim. Why the Tomb Tapper chose to stand with Avarice is unkown.
Things did not go well for Avarice or the Tomb Tapper. Our Heroes triumphed over these foes and sent their souls to the nine hells, to serve as thralls for Levistus for all time. The Codicile of White could be considered safe from Levistus’ machinations for now, until new allies could be wrangled from the desperate or power hungry souls of Icewind Dale.
Together with Dzaan, Vellyne, her three kobold companions and Kingsport the penguin, our heroes attuned to the Mythalar and brought the city of Ythrn back to full functionality. A shield projected from the Mythalar to encompass the whole city in a hemispherical barrier, shattering the glacier above and revealing the night sky.
As the city rose from its ancient tomb our heroes considered their next moves.
