The Museum
Our heroes cam across a massive domed building, the Ythrn musem. Inside objects of ancient art lied scattered and decayed like refuse. the upper level was a cicular mezzanine. A group of Nothics scurried from the dark corners, confronting our heroes, but stood down when offered food. The Nothics offered a ‘tour’ consisting mostly of unintelligible gibberish, but our heroes were able to recover some treasures that had survived over the years.
The upper floor showcased a deceased Phaerimm – described as a being that devoured magic and who wish to annihilate all other life and civilization. A cautionary plaque read ‘do not touch’, and 4 squeaky clean columns surrounded the Phaerrim.
The ceiling was painted, described by the Nothics as the work of a master. It depicted Yriolarthas, the Lich king of Ythrn standing above 12 other mages, with expressions of awe and respect.
The Mythallar
Below the massive central spire of Ythrn lay the Mythallar. Dzaan practically pleaded with our heroes to stop on their way to explore the rest of the city.
His pleas were answered, and out heroes made a pit stop. The Mythallar lay dull and dormant, but hummed with magical energy. Dzaan approached and was stymied by a force field. He vowed to find a way to deactivate it.
Tower of Transmutation
This tower had an inviting light shining from the top floor. The interior, however, was anything but inviting. The walls were sculpted with impressions of humanoid forms pressing from out from within, clawing and howling with expressions of madness.
Our heroes made haste to the upper floors, where they found a statue of a woman in wizard’s robes, posed as if completing a spell. She could be recognized as one of the wizards in the museum fresco. Our heroes found another clue for the strange octet carved in the ceiling, and a bag of beans – literally a bag of beans, with a small tag describing a wondrous surprise when the beans are planted.
Our heroes then fled this disturbing place
The Symphony Hall
Our heroes approached an ancient Symphony hall, an enormous boot shaped structure capped with three massive pipes extending above the city.
Playbills described the “Netherese Esoteric Orchestra’s masterwork : The Dark Between the Stars”. Largo recognized this piece, though it has likely changed over thousands of years.
Inside, the auditorium was full with corpses, their mummified remains locked in expressions of ecstacy, facing the orchestra, where instruments were held by the remains of the musicians. A conductor was collapsed over a lectern facing the orchestra, holding pristine conductor’s baton.
Yrso beleived this could be the wand described in the Octet, and gently picked it up. The room filled with light applause and the sound of tuning instruments. Lifting the baton caused the instruments to grow louder. Thoroughly spooked by this turn of events, our Heroes Heroically fled the Symphony Hall. A cacaphonous burst of noise exploded in Yrso’s ears, causing significant psychic trauma.
