Our Heroes marched up the steps and onto the island proper, where they met Sojo, a Mephit, who communicated with gestures and encouraged our heroes to follow him.
Vellyne’s Owl had an immediate distaste towards Sojo, but our heroes followed him through the south side of the island, through a garden of remarkeably lifeike sculptures which Sojo suggested were carved by Auril herself.
He brought them through a second garden, but here the scuptures were once-living humanoids, animals, and the giant GromenGorn. Largo used the Horn of Blasting to free the giant, who had survived encasement due to her immunity to the cold. Others encased in ice were less fortunate, and shattered.
GromenGorn revealed she had faced Auril, and urged our heroes to run if they encounter her. She remained in the garden to recover.
After the ice was shattered, an ominous feeling fell over our heroes, and a howl rang out across the island. Lynaea was familiar with this howl, made by the Yeti of Yetis, the Yeti that Yetis tell stories of to scare their children, voracious and incapable of empathy or emotion : The abominable Yeti.
Sojo seemed amused by this development, and led our heroes to the next location, where the frozen corpse of Nass Lantomir lay cluthching a cloudy orb. A small weasel circled the corpse, which Vellyne identified as Nass’ familiar.
The orb spoke out and introduced himself as Professor Skant, and expressed relief to finally be rescued.
When Vellyne took posession of the orb, Nass’ spirit was awoken and attempted to possess Largo. The spirit retained some spellcasting abilities from life but seemed single minded. She made no attempt to communicate and was dispatched by our heroes.
The professor explained that he is an expert, and lives to serve in that capacity.
His expertise lies mainly in The ancient city of Ythrn, it’s downfall, and the Netherese empire, but he is also an accomplished scholar of wine, vampirism, and the Tarrasque.
Sojo was bored by all this, and when attention was once again turned towards him he lit up and pointed to the various wrecks surrounding the island.
