In the deepest places of the earth and the furthest corners of the cosmos live the Illithid – creatures who feed on the minds of other sentient beings, enslaving worlds to be used as chattle.
However one society that proved to be indomitable to Illithid control is the gnomes. Apparently gnomes sometimes retain their personalities after undergoing Ceremorphosis, and they have become pariahs among the Illithid. The Gnome Ceremorphs even prefer to use physical communication rather than telepathy, communicating in Common with an accent that can only be described as ‘Gooey’.
