Dougan’s Hole has been freed from the yoke of the cruel Oblex, who harvested the villagers’ minds like livestock, keeping them perpetually under it’s thumb for decades.
Even after this feat, the villagers were happy to see our heroes leave, offering passing thanks. The naturally reclusive residents of Dougan’s Hole were eager to return to a normal, isolated, quiet life.
Dougan’s Hole is a fishing village, named after the founder Dougan, and situated on a fishing hole discovered by its namesake.
The town is oppressively bleak, it’s residents subsisting on a diet of raw fish. The docks and warehouse attached to the Speaker’s home have been irrevocably damaged by the encroaching ice from Redwaters, and fishermen have turned to icefishing in order to supply their town with food.
The only feature of note here is the Twenty Stones of Thuun, a triangle of massive stones erected long before Dougan discovered the fishing hole. No one knows what they are here for, and researchers have simply determined ‘they are ancient’.
The townsfolk have a reputation for being simple and inbred, a description that vastly understates just how weird everything is there.
Dougan’s Hole is avoided by other Ten Towners. On rare occasions Speaker Durmoot turns up at Ten Town’s Council meetings, and his skittishness and paranoia only reinforce other ten towner’s resolve to stay far away.
