Our heroes Woke up in their Targos apartment to find a flying snake peering into their window. The snake, known to be employed by the Zhentarim as spies managed to fly into the darkness before it could be apprehended.
When asked about this, speaker Skaern behaved suspiciously but once again promised to look into the possibility of Zhentarim in ten towns.
Our heroes left Targos, encountering Torgas’s caravan once again. The caravan was leaving Targos to follow the road up through Termalaine and to Lonelywood.
They found the site of the Dwarves lost iron ingots to find the bloodied torso of Ooblek, limbs scattered and chewed on, his head missing. Sled tracks and tiny footprints led south. All other tracks including those of the Yeti and the dwarves had been erased by the wind and snow.
The tracks led to four exhausted goblins pulling their haul through the tundra towards a goblin wagon headed by their boss Izobai. The goblins negotiated for the haul of iron – and were convinced that the iron was of low quality. They parted ways with our heroes and headed south to an unknown location.
On the journey to Brynn Shander, a Hungry Owlbear with the face of a snowy owl and the body of a polar bear approached the party. Yrso soothed the wayward beast and fed him with spoils of the hunt. When the Owlbear began picking at roadside shrines he was gently encouraged to return to the wilderness.
The 900lb sled was dragged all the way to Brynn Shander, and presented to Garn the Hammer and his sister Elza, who offered a 25% discount to their goods and space to sleep in the top floor of their loud and hot workshop. Their goods were noticeably of poor quality, but the abundance and variety of goods could not be denied.
They visited The Northlook Tavern and Inn for an ale and found the establishment busy with a variety of locals and travellers alike. It also featured a singing fish named Ol’ Bitey.
They spoke with displaced miners from Termalaine, who explained their mine was overtaken by kobolds.
They spoke with two arguing explorers, Dzaan and Vellyne Harpell. Dzaan declared their expedition to Ten Towns a failure before leaving the table and scoffed at any attempt by our heroes to converse. Vellyne revealed her expedition of four mages came to Ten towns to find evidence of an ancient Netherese City. That her companions had split to pursue their own ambitions, and that she would remain to find the city herself.
Working with Speaker Duvessa Shayne and Sherrif Markham Southwell our Heroes learned that their 2nd victim led a secret life as a thief and managed to covertly remove his name from the Lottery. The ticket was recovered entirely intact among the ashes in his fireplace. A letter of recommendation was drafted for Speaker Danneth in Easthaven and our heroes set out to investigate the 3rd murder.
Our heroes moved on to Easthaven, which turned out to have a similar issue with their lottery integrity. With the help of Prudence, the Speaker’s secretary, it was discovered that the tickets in the lottery were tainted by sticky candy. The speaker was fond of candies, and whilst drawing the name for the last lottery drew 2 names stuck together. He chose the name he felt would be least impactful to the town and returned the 2nd to the box.
Our heroes hatched a plan to use an Easthavener as bait, by rigging the upcoming lottery and drawing out the killer.
